                                                            Interesting Use of Music
I chose "Don't You Forget About Me" by Simple Minds from the movie The Breakfast Club. This is one of my all time favorite movies, and one of my favorite movie endings as well. The movie ends with this song playing and I think it is a really powerful ending. Throughout the movie a group of high school students have to spend a Saturday morning in detention together, and unlikely friendships/relationships form. In a time where cliques dominated high school hallways.. a rebel, princess, brain, athlete, and an outcast learn a little bit more about themselves and life. They form friendships with each other that would be frowned upon by others from their respective cliques, and now face the challenge of overcoming those social boundaries, or maintaining loyalties with their peer groups of friends. The song "Don't You Forget About Me" is such a perfect closing song because I believe it symbolizes their desires to remain friends after that detention, even if they can't show it while around other people. Especially rebel John and princess Claire, two total opposites who become romantically interested in each other.
